Figure In Place Session 2

Ive been enjoying the Figure in Place Workshop with Nicholas Mancini. Of course, every perceived weakness in my painting practice glare at me – value, color, edges, shaky figurative skills – yep that about covers it! From the small value studies that Nicholas encourages us to begin our sessions with to the color study. The thing I strive for is to work past my insecurities and get lost in the act of painting – that place where I rely on instinct and past painting experience to guide me while trying to stay open to learning and improving my work.

The Figure In Place

It’s good to step out of  one’s comfort zone-I’m taking a workshop with Manifest Gallery Artist-In-Residence Nicholas Mancini.  We are working on the figure and interiors. Although I’ve worked with the figure in the past- it’s been a while and with other media. In this workshop I’m working in oils. Here is todays color study.Color Study Mar 30

Scouting for Studio Space

Greetings and Happy New Year!

I’m in the home stretch- final semester before graduation! Apologies are in order for slacking on my blog posts – between the Christmas holidays, working on thesis and other final projects; I’ve completely neglected the blog. Time to get back into the swing of things……

I am currently looking for an affordable (willing to work to offset rent) studio space. My painting studio at DAAP may be small but it has been a dedicated work space for the past three years and I cherish it. However, it will be reassigned to a current student after I graduate in April…sigh!

I am interested in a space at least 20′ x20′ with good natural light (windows). Must be secure and accessable (street level or elevator) and available parking. Sink and running water for cleanup, bathroom facilities, electrical outlets to accommodate microwave, stereo additional lights if needed etc.

I am interested in Covington, Newport or In Cincinnati–  (Northside, Walnut Hills or Oakley).  It would be ideal to be near other creatives – either in the building or as neighbors. Please message me if you have suggestions. Thanks

Grow Your Art Business – Shop Critiques

I am thrilled that my Etsy shop is included in Roos Schuring’s latest installment of “Grow Your Art Business” , her free workshop about online marketing for artists. Roos Schuring ,  a self-representing plein aire artist from the Netherlands  generously shares tips and techniques learned  while creating her own very successful online presence in this  workshop – no strings attached. Check it out and thank-you Roos!
